Save Roe

Over 60 Joined Raleigh's Re-Defining Choice Rally on January 22, 2008!

THANK YOU to our incredible volunteer activists in Raleigh, NC who braved the cold to participate in yesterday’s Re-Defining Choice demonstration at the capitol!  EVERYONE who came was absolutely critical in representing the pro-choice majority.  We are so proud and so thrilled that each of you took time from your day to stand in support of choice.  You are helping to truly re-define ‘choice’ and to re-focus the debate on what’s really important: access to information and health services; and options.

Some INCREDIBLE media attention we received in the News & Observer is below—we’re featured in a video AND an article that focuses on the importance of access to health services and information!

We are equally thrilled with the turnout we had at Monday's Sign-Making Party & Advocacy Training at PPHS in Raleigh!

Nearly 20 volunteers, local leaders, and teens joined us on Monday, January 21, 2008 to learn about pro-choice messaging and to make signs for Tuesday's successful demonstration.

Representative Ty Harrell (of North Carolina's 41st district) attended, and spoke to the group about the importance of choice to him, as well as how we can all communicate with our elected officials.  Ty's highlights:

- Women deserve to govern their bodies as men do: with full access to information, services, and options.

- Communicate with your representatives in writing!  E-mail, write letters, and call.  Use www.ncleg.net to find them!

- Have your friends do the same.

- Even when you know your representatives don't agree with you, keep the letters coming!  The only way to hold them accountable is to voice our concerns.

Why does Roe v. Wade still matter?  Women’s Rights are in DANGER!  Save Roe!

Abortion access is in grave danger. South Dakota passed a bill that outlaws virtually all abortions, even in cases of rape or incest. Following South Dakota, 12 states have proposed bills that would ban abortion or trigger abortion bans if Roe v. Wade were overturned and seven states already have trigger laws on the books. These bans are a direct challenge to Roe v. Wade and interfere with the constitutional right to make private, personal decisions about health care.
